Winnie Harlow took a creative stand against critics who have mocked her for her Vitiligo by embracing the comparison in a playful Halloween costume. The Canadian model, celebrated for her confident presence in the fashion world, transformed the comments into a clever costume by dressing as a Neapolitan ice cream for a Halloween event on Friday.
At the highly-anticipated annual Halloween party hosted by Vas J Morgan and Michael Braun, the 31-year-old model was among the stars who graced the event with their presence. Her costume choice was both bold and symbolic, drawing attention and making a statement on self-acceptance and resilience.
Winnie, who lives with the skin condition Vitiligo, has often faced remarks comparing the variations in her skin tone to the layers of a Neapolitan ice cream. Rather than let these comments diminish her, she turned the tables by embodying the metaphor—complete with a dripping brown and pink ensemble, complemented by matching thigh-high boots.

She added: ‘I love turning things people say about me or others with Vitiligo into a positive. From doing 101 Dalmatians to Cheetara, Neapolitan might be my favorite.’

However, she became the first person with the skin condition to walk the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

In 2023, Winnie recalled working at La Senza and looking at the models, wishing she could do what they were doing, as she reflected on how much she’d achieved.
She told ET Canada: ‘It’s funny to me now that I’ve actually created a lane for myself in this industry that there was never a lane set.
‘People will be like, she’s already a model because of her skin. I’m like, Well, it was actually the opposite. I was never supposed to be a model because of my skin.
‘I’ve actually fought against that but I’m like oh… you must think my skin is beautiful now, which nobody thought before. So, you know, it’s a double-edged sword, but there’s beauty in it.’

Stepping out for the party, which was held at the Chateau Marmont Hotel, Paris, 26, cast a spell on onlookers as she transformed into the iconic wizard.
She rocked a huge white wool beard paired with a grey knitted wizard hat and a huge dark grey cloak.
She accessorised the look with a knitted belt and carried Gandalf’s iconic walking stick, with her blonde locks in long natural ringlets.

Lily, whose new album is about her ex-husband’s affair and their subsequent split, seemingly named the girl on the semi-autobiographical album in which she repeatedly sings: ‘Who the f*** is Madeline?’
The Madeline book series, which follows the orphaned schoolgirl, was turned into a film in 1998, with actress Hatty Jones taking the lead role.
