A young Nigerian woman has ignited online conversations by outlining the stringent criteria she requires in a partner before contemplating marriage.
The TikTok user, known as @stephaniejudithuc, shared that her single and child-free status is due to men not meeting her high expectations.
“No Man Meets My Standards”
In a widely circulated TikTok video, she expressed doubts about the existence of her ideal partner.
She commented: “Honestly, no man truly aligns with my standards. The type of man I envision as my husband probably doesn’t even exist. Most men are either ‘disvirgined,’ past their prime, or simply unattractive. And I couldn’t bear for my child to resemble them.”
Domestic Skills Are a Must
She emphasized that a key trait she seeks in a potential husband is proficiency in household duties.
She said her ideal man must be able to handle household chores and childcare responsibilities.
In her words: “He must be someone that is domestically equipped. He must know how to cook, wash my clothes and, you know, the kids that we are going to give birth to, he must do the laundry.
Full Financial and Household Control
Adding another controversial point, she explained that she wants to be the primary financial provider in the relationship and take full control of household decisions.
She stated: “I will come and pay his groom price. Because it is me that will pay, and drop him in my house. I will marry a man by myself. I will marry you, you will bear my surname, and you will stay in my house.”
Rejecting Traditional Marriage Roles
The TikToker also criticised societal expectations that pressure women into marriage and motherhood.
She said she has no interest in adhering to traditional marital roles and wants a partnership that fully aligns with her values and lifestyle.
