Woody McClain and his girlfriend Charli B. are getting ready to welcome their twin girls this fall.

To celebrate, the couple hosted a baby shower in Atlanta on Saturday, June 28.

“The baby shower was an amazing celebration with family and friends, filling us with so much joy,” McClain shared with PEOPLE. “Not only do we have each other, but we also have an entire village to help raise our beautiful babies together.”

Charli played a key role in planning the event, helping bring the couple’s “bows and butterflies” theme to life.

The couple also added a personal and playful touch to the festivities: Nursery Karaoke. “Our families are musical, so we knew we had to play Nursery Karaoke,” McClain shares with PEOPLE. “Everyone truly loved the game and cried from genuine laughter.”

McClain first revealed their pregnancy news on April Fool’s Day,  a move that was very much in line with his personality. “I’m such a jokester [and a] troller, and [I] love to keep people on their toes, so if you know me then posting the big news on April Fools day was on brand for me,” he explained.

With twins on both sides of his family, the dad-to-be wasn’t entirely surprised by the news. He and Charli, who are expecting their daughters in November, have already picked out names: Emily and Amaya.

As the countdown continues, Woody says the experience of preparing for fatherhood has been deeply moving.

“The closer we get, the more I appreciate the incredible strength of women. [The ability] to carry children deserves greater recognition and admiration,” he said. “Fatherhood feels like I’m preparing for a lifetime role. The amount of research and love being poured into me is overwhelming in the best way, reminding me that growth isn’t just for them, it’s for me too.”

So what is he looking forward to most? “I am most excited to be the first person to take my girls on a shopping spree,” he shared.
