Beth Dutton and Summer Higgins repeatedly punched each other in the face during a bloody fight on Sunday’s episode of Yellowstone on Paramount Network.

The brutal fight started after Beth [Kelly Reilly] told Summer [Piper Perabo] she wanted to go for a walk outside after Summer looked down on the meat-only options presented for the family dinner.

Once outside, Beth wheeled around and punched Summer in the face as she got into yet another altercation following her recent bar fight with a California woman.

‘You smug, spoiled, 40-year-old adolescent,’ Summer said. ‘You are everything that is wrong with this place.’

‘The only thing wrong with this place is you’re in it,’ Beth shot back.

Beth then punched her in the face again. Summer tried to fight her, but Beth kept repeatedly punching and even head-butted her.

Rip Wheeler [Cole Hauser] worried about what was happening outside, but family patriarch John Dutton [Kevin Costner] said to just let them get it out of their system.

‘Nothing gets out of your daughter’s system, sir,’ Rip said.

Summer kicked and threw Beth before Rip came out and found them struggling with each other on the ground.

‘Do you know how stupid you both look?’ Rip said. ‘You look ridiculous.’

Rip told Beth she wasn’t teaching their son good manners. He then told Summer just to not eat the food if she didn’t like it.

‘Maybe shut the f*** up,’ Rip said.

Rip told them they needed to figure out a way to get along and suggested the two of them just punch each other in the face until one of them had enough.

They brutally took turns punching each other until Summer gave up. Beth helped her up.

‘This is my f***ing house,’ Beth said. ‘You will show me and everyone in it respect, do you understand?’

‘What respect do I get?’ Summer asked.

Respect demanded: 'This is my f***ing house,' Beth said. 'You will show me and everyone in it respect, do you understand?'

‘You get exactly what you give,’ Beth said.

Summer agreed and Beth said they should go inside and eat. She told Summer they didn’t need to get cleaned off.

‘I don’t hide from what I do,’ Beth said. ‘Let them look.’

Beth and Summer sat down to eat with their faces bloody. John looked at them and said he was going to get the first-aid kit.

‘You are all excused,’ John said.

John and Rip had a drink together.

‘I commend you, Rip. It must take a lot of courage to sleep next to that woman,’ John said.

John said nowadays they don’t settle differences with fighting.

‘Cowards rule the world,’ John said. ‘To succeed today all you need to know is how to blame and how to complain. I truly believe it is the survival of the unfittest.’

John said he hoped that Beth would have calmed down when she got older.

‘You know I’ve got one child I miss, one child I pity, one I regret,’ John said. ‘That girl. That child I envy.’

The season five episode titled Watch ‘Em Ride Away opened with Beth thinking about how she could have done things differently with Rip growing up.

Rip and John discussed logistics about getting the cattle back to the ranch so they could brand them.

John met with Clara Brewer [Lilli Kay] at the ranch to go over government business.

‘We are going to work out of here for a few days,’ John said.

‘Working from the ranch for a few days understood,’ Clara said. ‘Would you be opposed to moving some meetings here?’

‘No more meetings,’ John said.

John told Clara to instead invite a news crew to the ranch so he could show the world who they were and what they do. John went and sat outside with Beth to talk about Summer.

‘You gave your girlfriend clemency?’ Beth said.

‘She’s not my girlfriend and I did not give her clemency,’ John said. ‘I commuted her sentence. She’s finishing out under house arrest.’

John told Beth that he needed Summer to help him.

‘She’s not going to help you dad,’ Beth said. ‘You have invited your worst enemy to sleep in your bed, and if you think that she was f***ing you last night, give her three months — the real f***ing is coming.’

Beth told him that people wanted the land and that was all he needed to understand.

Kayce Dutton [Luke Grimes] was distraught over the loss of his son and his wife Monica Long [Kelsey Asbille] consoled him.

‘I worry about you, my life and my place in it,’ Kayce said. ‘I have absolutely no idea what to do.’

‘We move on,’ Monica said. ‘Don’t quit your job. Your job isn’t why he died.’

Kayce said he didn’t want anything coming between them.

‘Nothings coming between us,’ Monica said. ‘Nothing can.’

Monica said John invited them to the branding and she thought it would be a good idea for them to go.

Beth saw Rip packing his gear for the cattle drive. He asked her to go after she said she wanted to go. John asked Summer if she wanted to come.

‘Do I want to sit on the back of an animal you broke into submission to gather animals you plan to harass and imprison before you mutilate their bodies,’ Summer said. ‘No, I think I’ll stay here.’

‘Summer you are so full of s***,’ John said.

Kayce and Monica arrived at the ranch for the drive and unloaded their horses.

‘That’s your youngest son?’ Clara asked.

Meanwhile, Jamie Dutton [Wes Bentley] was back at his office after his own altercation with Beth when Sarah Atwood [Dawn Olivieri] walked in.

‘I called you,’ Jamie said.

‘I’m aware,’ Sarah said.

Jamie said the other night between them was professional. Sarah said they were two consenting adults.

‘I do understand what you are saying,’ Sarah said. ‘You’re saying that a relationship would recuse you from representing the State in litigation against Market Equities or its partners.’

‘It would recuse you as well,’ Jamie said.

‘I’m not a litigator,’ Sarah said.

‘Is that why you did it?’ Jamie said.

Jamie said the state hires outside litigators so she didn’t recuse him from anything. Sarah then unbuttoned her entire dress.

The next morning as everyone was preparing to leave the ranch for the cattle run, Beth asked Summer how she was feeling.

‘Like I got hit by a truck,’ Summer said. ‘How about you?’

‘Like I got hit by a Prius,’ Beth quipped.

Yellowstone will return next week on Paramount Network.
