Atlanta-based rapper YFN Lucci has reunited with his kids after spending nearly four years behind bars.

The hip-hop artist, real name Rayshawn Lamar Bennett, was released from Georgia’s Burruss Correctional Training Center on January 31. Upon his release, his children, parents, close friends, and music team gathered to welcome him back.

The emotional reunion was captured in a video that Lucci shared on social media. Reflecting on his time away, YFN Lucci expressed deep gratitude for those who stood by him.

“I’ve learned a lot during my time away,” YFN Lucci said in a statement. “I’m incredibly grateful for my family and friends who have stood by me the whole time. Now, it’s my turn to give back. I want to use my voice, my platform and my music to inspire those who look up to me. I want to show people it’s never too late to make a change.

He continued, “For me, this time is about growth, redemption and purpose. I’m excited – there’s so much more to come.”

His legal team, including attorneys Drew Findling, Marissa Goldberg, Gabe Banks, and Pat Dixon, confirmed his early parole release.

“He is overjoyed to reunite with his children, his family and his music,” they said. “He will waste no time releasing new music and getting back on stage to perform for his fans.”

Bennett’s legal troubles began in January 2021 when he was charged with murder in connection to a gang-related drive-by shooting. The Fulton County District Attorney’s office accused him of multiple charges, including racketeering and assault.

However, after reaching a plea deal, 12 out of 13 charges were dropped. He pleaded guilty to one count of violating Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act in January 2024, receiving a 20-year sentence with 10 years to serve. Due to credit for time served and parole eligibility, he secured an early release.

YFN Lucci’s release comes with conditions. He will remain on parole until January 2031, during which he must reside with his mother, undergo drug testing, and stay away from any gang-related activities.
