A young Nigerian man has expressed his disapproval as he called out landlords in Delta State, especially those in Asaba, over what he described as unaffordable house rents.
In a viral video making the rounds on social media, the man voiced his frustration, saying that landlords in Asaba place rents so high that ordinary people cannot afford them.

He began by asking a direct question in the video, saying: “Asaba landlords how you go put 2 bedroom flat for N2.5 million, N3 million and you go open mouth say you no want yahoo boy.”
He went further to question their reasoning, even asking if they were mentally alright. According to him, it is unreasonable to expect a normal person, who is not a fraudster, to afford as much as ₦3 million for house rent.
The man also raised concerns about income levels in the country. He asked how much the federal and state governments are paying as minimum wage that would allow an ordinary worker to comfortably rent a two-bedroom flat at such a high cost.
In his argument, he stressed that there is no civil servant or regular person who can genuinely afford to pay ₦3 million rent.
He concluded that only internet fraudsters, popularly called yahoo boys, could afford such luxury, and landlords already know the kind of people they are building those expensive houses for.
The man’s outburst has since sparked different reactions online, with many people agreeing that house rent in Asaba and other Nigerian cities has become too costly for the average citizen.
