Nollywood star Yul Edochie has issued an open letter to President Bola Tinubu, voicing significant concerns about the rising insecurity and overwhelming economic difficulties affecting Nigerians.

In a message shared on social media, Edochie directly addresses the government’s pledge of “renewed hope,” questioning its effectiveness amid current challenges.

He highlighted several urgent matters needing attention, claiming that bandits are “gradually taking over the entire nation,” and are “freely shedding the blood of Nigerians without facing any consequences.” Edochie also pointed to the rampant issue of kidnappings, observing that “Nigerians are being abducted in large numbers every day.”

The actor turned his attention to the soaring cost of living, lamenting that “prices are sky-high,” and that “the hardship is intolerable for Nigerians.” He concluded his poignant message with a direct question for the administration: “Is this the renewed hope you promised Nigerians?”

In other news….. Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has stirred up a new wave of reactions after boldly claiming he has supported more people in the music industry than Olamide, Don Jazzy, Wizkid, and Davido put together.

In a trending video, the Zazu hitmaker stated that his influence goes far beyond releasing songs. According to him, he constantly assists upcoming artistes as well as everyday Nigerians who have no links to the entertainment industry.

Portable argued that unlike many celebrities who “carry ego,” he freely mingles with ordinary people and regularly reposts videos made by his fans.

He said:

“Most Nigerian celebrities won’t even acknowledge their fans, even if they dance to their songs. But me, I repost every positive video about me.

“Even if you have money, some celebrities still won’t feature an upcoming artiste. But I help people without asking for anything. I’ve helped more people in the music industry than Don Jazzy, Olamide, Wizkid, and Davido.”

He explained that true support involves taking someone from the streets, providing accommodation, food, clothing, and even financing their early studio sessions not disguising business deals as mentorship.

Portable also claimed that many new artistes are only exploited, and when they attempt to stand on their own, they are quickly branded ungrateful.

The singer’s remarks sparked mixed reactions across social media. One user commented, “Portable never fails to brag, but to be fair, he has helped some people.” Another wrote, “Bringing Olamide and Don Jazzy into this comparison is wild! 😂

His comments have once again ignited heated discussions, with some praising his grassroots generosity while others argue he is overstating his contributions.
