Angelina Jolie once shared with MSN in 2007 the challenging early years of her son Pax. Born on November 29, 2003, Pax spent the first few years of his life confined to a single room in an orphanage near Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. There, he lived with 20 other children, limited in personal freedom and choices.
His life took a dramatic turn when he joined Angelina’s family, which included siblings Maddox, Zahara, and Shiloh. “Suddenly, here he is in a very free situation with new brothers and sisters and a mom and dad,” Angelina recounted. Pax embraced his newfound freedom, quickly learning English and displaying a spirited and affectionate nature. “He’s wild and free because he suddenly has freedom, so he’s a little wild and crazy. But what a tough, remarkable little person,” she added.
Pax seems to have inherited an interest in the creative arts, following in the footsteps of his famous family. He lent his voice to the character Yoo in Angelina’s animated film Kung Fu Panda 3 in 2016 and took on the role of set photographer for First They Killed My Father. His burgeoning interest in film saw him accompany Angelina to the 2018 Golden Globes.
In addition to his work in film, Pax contributed to the fashion world by helping to design Atelier Jolie, a creative fashion collective and alteration company Angelina launched in New York City. He also gained experience in the assistant director department while on the Italian set of her film Without Blood.
Angelina expressed her joy in collaborating with her sons on professional projects. Speaking to People, she said, “When a film crew is at its best, it feels like a big family, so it felt natural.” Her statement underscores the seamless integration of her family into her work and life, creating an environment that fosters both creativity and connection.
