Back when Zayn Malik, now 33, reflected on his past relationship with Gigi Hadid—who began dating Bradley Cooper in 2023—he believed his emotions for her were more profound than he perceives them today.
“My understanding of love is always evolving,” Zayn said. “At the time, I might have thought it was love, but as I’ve matured, I’ve come to realize it might not have been. Perhaps it was lust, or something else entirely. I don’t feel like it was genuine love.”
Zayn, who also had a well-known relationship with Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards from 2012 to 2015, has embraced the experience of being single. He openly stated, “I don’t find being alone frightening.”
“This isn’t to disrespect any of my past relationships,” Zayn clarified. “It’s not about that at all. Being single has been liberating. I’m someone who thrives on my own schedule, answers only to myself. It’s incredibly freeing. I can plan things on a whim and sleep in as late as I want.”
