On the heels of a history-making halftime time performance at Super Bowl LIX, people are still talking about Kendrick Lamar and his music. One person in particular is Zoe Saldaña’s 10-year-old son who asked his mom, when will he be “old enough” to listen to Lamar’s music.

The Emilia Perez actress appeared on a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, telling Kimmel that her son’s were very interested in exploring music, especially that of Kendrick Lamar.

“He looked amazing, and he’s such a great artist,” Saldaña said of the Grammy award-winning artist. “Cy, one of my twins, asked me that night. He goes, ‘When will I be old enough to listen to Kendrick Lamar?’”

“I would say like maybe 14, 15. But he’s 10 now, so yeah,” she answered. “But he’s a wonderful artist. I told Cy he’s a wonderful artist and when you’re old enough, you’ll be able to listen and enjoy his music.”

Despite the fact that Saldaña and her boys didn’t watch the big game together, they did have a family bonding moment as a result of the boys getting haircuts.

“I was just with my boys because my husband’s traveling and my boys have really long hair, so I was cutting their hair,” she told Kimmel.

“Well they don’t want to go to the barber. I beg them. ‘Why don’t we just go to breakfast and go to the barber?’ And they’re like, ’No, you cut it!’ So there I was, cutting their hair like five inches to one, four inches to the other, three inches to…I was just cutting.”

Saldaña has been very open about encouraging her children to explore the arts, and this includes dance.

“I’m trying. I’m not going to give up. Studies have shown that it is so therapeutic for men to take any form of dance at a very early age or throughout their lives because they carry so much tension and emotion,” she told W. Magazine in a recent interview.

“At least my twins are tapping. My younger one, he couldn’t give a s— who is dancing. He wants to be Cristiano Ronaldo; he wants to be Lionel Messi. But my twins are very much like, ‘Yo, girls are in there? They’re dancing hip-hop?’ And they’ll dance.”

The Live By Night actress shares her three sons, Cy, Bowie, and Zen, with husband, Marco Perego.
