Benjamin Joseph Bennett Skiing Accident has been unexpected, marking the second fatality on Granite State slopes in just three days.

On Wednesday, a 21-year-old man died in a skiing accident at Cannon Mountain in Franconia, New Hampshire, becoming the Granite State’s second fatality in three days.

The Boston Globe reports that Cannon Mountain Ski Patrol was notified of a missing skier shortly before 2:15 pm, who had been separated from his pals for approximately 90 minutes.

Ski Patrol investigated the area and found the skier in the trees of the “Upper Ravine” slope. Still, the man had suffered substantial trauma and exhibited “no indications of life,” a representative for the resort told the Globe in an e-mail Saturday.

Bennett, a University of New Hampshire neuroscience student, was “killed unexpectedly in a skiing accident at Cannon Mountain on January 18, 2023,” according to his obituary.

Bennett is recalled as someone who “lived his life to the fullest” and was known by all as “funny, kind, kind, intellectual, and hardworking,” according to his obituary.

He was known as “the class clown” in high school, yet he was incredibly determined and graduated as Valedictorian, according to his obituary.

While pursuing his dream of becoming a neurosurgeon, he spent time with his friends and family. His parents and 12 siblings survive Bennett.

“He enjoyed everything outdoors, especially sunset treks, kayaking, riding, and skiing,” according to the obituary. “All who knew him will miss him deeply.”

His tragedy came just two days after the loss of a 15-year-old boy in a skiing accident at Gunstock Mountain in Gilford, New Hampshire, on Monday. 

Sydnie Quimby, a student at Gilford High School, was named as the victim by Anthony Sperazzo, the principal, according to The Boston Globe.

Benjamin Bennett was born on March 1, 2001, in Manchester, New Hampshire, to Norman and Cindy Bennett. 

Friends and relatives recall him fondly as someone who enjoyed life to the fullest. Everyone remembers him as hilarious, kind, generous, intelligent, and hardworking.

 Benjamin is survived by his parents, Norman and Cindy Bennett, and his 12 siblings, Stacey Qualls, Julie Davis, Katie Bennett, Norman Bennett, and Norman Bennett. 

Cami Bennett, Peter Bennett, Naomi Bennett, Paul Bennett, Lillianna Bennett, Jeremiah Bennett, Zachariah Bennett, Evan Bennett; Charity Qualls, Samantha Qualls, Frederic Qualls, Landon Qualls, Jayden Tinajero; and his grandma Louise Holdsworth.

Ben knew no strangers and made everyone feel like the most critical person in the room. While he was known as the “class clown” at school, he was determined with numerous aspirations and dreams.

While he was a diligent worker who was always striving for his goals, he also made time for his friends and family.

He enjoyed everything about the outdoors, especially sunset treks, kayaking, riding, and skiing. Everyone who knew him will sadly miss him.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate life on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 7:00 pm at the Crossroads Church, 43 Atwood Rd., Pelham, NH.
