Frankie Bridge Illness: Frankie Bridge Neck Tumor Revealed
The Saturdays singer, 35, revealed doctors recently discovered a ‘rare’ tumor after taking her in for an MRI scan and she explained they were trying to find the source of her constant headaches when they found the lump in her neck.
Speaking on Tuesday’s Loose Women, Frankie Bridge revealed that thankfully, the tumour is benign, but it was understandably a terrifying ordeal.
She explained: ‘I’ve recently had an MRI and just by chance they found something on my neck so I had to have another MRI.
‘It turned out to be a tumor which is benign, it doesn’t need treating, it’s fine.’
She revealed that the diagnosis came at the worst possible time, as her husband Wayne Bridge was away and she was singlehandedly caring for their sons Parker, nine and Carter, seven.
She said the doctor rang her, she was on her own, and Wayne was away. She was in the middle of cooking her children dinner.
‘Instantly she thought, “That’s it, this is her time, she is going to be sick, thinking she was going to die.
Luckily for her, it’s really rare and they only came across it because they were scanning her for her headaches.
In August, Frankie revealed she was suffering from headaches brought on by muscle tension in her neck and jaw.
She explained she was trying to alleviate tension in her neck that came from clenching her jaw too frequently and had booked in to get muscle relaxer injections.
Aesthetic practitioner Natali Kelly then explained the treatment, saying she would be injecting a neuromodulator to relax the muscles for ‘less pain and an elongated swanlike neck’.
Frankie confessed to her followers that she was nervous. And that she couldn’t feel anything.
At the beginning of last year, Frankie’s mother Victoria Sandford was diagnosed with breast cancer, with the singer calling the ‘horrific’ diagnosis a wake-up call.
Frankie explained her mother was lucky to have caught the illness early but admitted it gave her shock as she never thought to check herself for any lumps.
She told the Mirror in June: ‘My mum was diagnosed with stage 2, grade 3 breast cancer at the beginning of the year. She caught it early but it was quite aggressive.
She’s finished treatment now and is coming out of the other side but it’s not over yet, so it’s scary to talk about.’
She added: ‘My mum’s diagnosis has made me go, ‘Oh God, it could be anyone’. And having the diagnosis early makes such a big difference.’
