Over the weekend, American YouTuber IShowSpeed was taken to the hospital in critical condition with a swollen eye.
IshowSpeed, real name Darren Watkins Jr., is still in the hospital after it was discovered he has cluster headaches, a rare ailment that causes sporadic, excruciating pain attacks on one side of the head.
Watkins verified he was still in the hospital, in agony, but on the mend in a Snapchat video shared with his followers.
Slipper, a close friend of the celebrity, revealed on Twitter that Watkins’ mother has come in Tokyo to help out with her son.
The content live broadcasts in which IShowSpeed plays video games like Roblox, Fortnite, and FIFA have made him famous.
Following the diagnosis of his cluster headache, IShowSpeed gave his followers an update on how he was doing.
He added in a video to his followers: “My eye is swelling up. Boom, boom, boom, boom! It feels like someone gets stabbed in the eye with a knife.
“I wanted to give y’all boys an update because, as you know, I don’t know what’s going on.
“Until the day I die, I want y’all lads to be right there with me. I dunno guy, I’m gonna probably take it easy after traveling for a little while when I get back home because there’s a lot going on.
What Is Cluster Headache?
Cluster headache is a rare illness that causes sporadic, excruciating pain attacks on one side of the head, frequently around the eye.
One of the most agonizing types of headaches are cluster headaches, which manifest in cyclical patterns or cluster periods. You may experience severe pain in or near one eye on one side of your head during a cluster headache, which frequently wakes you up in the middle of the night.
Cluster periods, also known as bursts of frequent attacks, can last anywhere from weeks to months and are typically followed by remission periods during which the headaches subside. The absence of headaches lasts for weeks, perhaps even months, during remission.

Symptoms Of Cluster Headache
It strikes quickly, usually without warning, although you might first have migraine-like nausea and aura. Common signs and symptoms during cluster headache include:
- The excruciating pain that is generally situated in, behind, or around one eye, but may radiate to other areas of your face, head, and neck
- One-sided pain
- Restlessness
- Excessive tearing
- Redness of your eye on the affected side
- The stuffyor runny nose on the affected side
- Forehead or facial sweating on the affected side
- Pale skin (pallor) or flushing on your face
- Swelling around your eye on the affected side
- Drooping eyelid on the affected side
Risk factors Of Cluster Headache
- Sex. Men are more likely to have cluster headaches.
- Age. Most people who develop cluster headaches are between ages 20 and 50, although the condition can develop at any age.
- Smoking. Many people who get cluster headache attacks are smokers. However, quitting smoking usually has no effect on the headaches.
- Alcohol use. If you have cluster headaches, drinking alcohol during a cluster period may increase your risk of an attack.
- A family history. Having a parent or sibling who has had cluster headache might increase your risk.
