Following a serious stroke earlier this year, former MTV VJ Matt Pinfield provided an emotional update on his health. He remembered the grim prognosis he initially faced, reminiscing how his friends believed they were seeing him for the final time while doctors were doubtful about his ability to ever speak or walk again.

Currently, the 63-year-old Pinfield has been transferred from the intensive care unit to a rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Pinfield disclosed that he was unresponsive for an extensive two-month period post-stroke, which was a result of ongoing health complications he had been experiencing. Despite the challenges, he remains optimistic about his recovery, emphasizing his determination to overcome the obstacles ahead.

Healthline describes a massive stroke as a serious event where “a disruption in blood flow to part of your brain causes significant damage.” Symptoms can include a sudden, severe headache, vomiting, neck stiffness, and numbness or weakness on one side of the body or face.

During his recovery, Pinfield faced challenges like pneumonia and needed a ventilator, admitting he was “close” to not making it through.

While there were claims from his girlfriend, Kara Brown, and his brother, Glenn Pinfield, that his 38-year-old daughter, Jessica Pinfield, was trying to isolate him through a conservatorship, the radio host clarified that the truth of the situation was quite different.

Pinfield shared his heartfelt thanks, saying, “She is the one who saved my life. She provided me with protection,” in reference to Jessica, who has been given temporary guardianship over his medical and financial affairs, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

He also highlighted how crucial support from others has been during his recovery.

“I want to express my deep appreciation for everyone who has wished me well. The love from the community has been instrumental in helping me through this challenging time,” he noted.

Pinfield expressed his hope to be officially discharged by the “end of the month,” with plans to continue his recovery through outpatient care, taking a careful approach.

“I will definitely take the necessary time to heal. After that, I plan to get back to my radio shows and return to my passion for entertaining people through music,” Pinfield shared.
