The 40-year-old actress spoke about her botched nose surgery in the early 2000s when she made an appearance on an episode of The Howard Stern Show. Her physicians had advised her to have a polyp in her nasal cavity removed.

She described the period following the treatment when she discovered the surgeons had erred as “a dark phase,” according to Howard Stern.

Chopra Jonas stated, “This thing happens, and my face looks completely different, and I went into a deep, deep depression,” adding that she was subsequently let go from three different projects and felt her acting career “was over before it started.”

The star of the Citadel acknowledged that her mental health issues were so severe that she was staying home. She didn’t until her father, who is a doctor, persuaded her to have corrective surgery.

She recalled: “I was terrified of that, but he said, ‘I will be in the room with you.'” He gave me support and assisted me in regaining my confidence.

In her memoir, Unfinished, Chopra Jonas previously discussed the failed nose surgery in detail, stating that the outcomes left her feeling “devastated and hopeless.”

She quickly rose to stardom after winning Miss World 2000, but in the summer of 2001, she started to have what she thought was a “lingering head cold” due to a “very bad sinus infection.”

“I was having breathing problems. Someone with asthma can’t disregard this issue, the celebrity noted in her book. Eventually, she went to a physician whom a family friend had recommended, and he or she was informed that there was a “polyp in my nasal cavity that would need to be surgically removed.”

At the time, Chopra Jonas felt thankful that a polypectomy “sounded like a pretty routine procedure,” but unfortunately for her, it didn’t go quite as planned. “While shaving off the polyp, the doctor also accidentally shaved the bridge of my nose and the bridge collapsed. When it was time to remove the bandages and the condition of my nose was revealed, Mom and I were horrified. My original nose was gone. My face looked completely different. I wasn’t me anymore,” she said.

The actress made the decision to “draw a line” and simply keep it private, even though she felt “dared to give an explanation for the obviously different nose” throughout the years. “I work as a performer. I agreed to do it, and I genuinely enjoy doing it. I’ll dance my dance, say my words, and make my imprint. I’ll try my hardest to make you smile and cry, but just because I’m a public figure doesn’t mean everything about my life needs to be made known to the world. I have control over what and when I disclose,” she stated.

After having many corrective procedures to repair the damage caused by the polypectomy, the celebrity now feels as though her “nose has normalized.”

“While it took me a few years to get used to looking in the mirror and seeing a stranger staring back at me, I’ve become accustomed to this face. I’ve come to terms with this little altered person, so I’m no longer astonished when I look in the mirror,” Chopra Jonas remarked. My face is shown here. I am this body. Even if I have flaws, I am still me.
