QUINCY, Ind. — A teenager from Indiana is facing serious charges after allegedly taking the lives of two family members in the driveway of their residence, according to police reports.

Fifteen-year-old Jeremiah Nicholas Dill was apprehended during the summer following the discovery of two men with fatal gunshot injuries outside a Quincy home. Recently, Dill has been charged as an adult in Owen County court, where he is now confronting two felony murder charges.

Authorities received a call reporting a shooting incident shortly before 3:45 p.m. on August 9, directing them to a residence on the 1500 block of Truesdel Road. Upon arrival, the police discovered 61-year-old Jefferey Fauber and 41-year-old Grantham Adam Chandler lying in the driveway, both victims of gunfire.

The men were found unresponsive and succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

A witness informed the police that the perpetrator was a 15-year-old boy recently discharged from a mental health facility. Additionally, the witness reported that a 2011 gold Ford Escape and several firearms were missing from the premises.

Soon after, officers were also called to the Morgan County Jail after a juvenile showed up to turn himself in as a homicide suspect. Court documents say the boy made several statements to jail staff, such as “I killed my family,” “I killed my father,” and “I’m fighting demons.”

After being walked outside by officers and handcuffed in the parking lot, the teen reportedly made further admissions.

“I shot him with a 22,” he is quoted as saying. “The guns that I killed him with are in that car.”

The boy, later identified as Dill, was pointing at the same Ford Escape that had gone missing from the crime scene. Inside, investigators found a handgun and a loaded AR-15 with the safety off.

Dill told officers he shot the victims at a home in Quincy, where he said he lives with several family members. The boy’s guardian was brought in to be with him during a police interview, but she reportedly requested an attorney once his Miranda Rights were read.

The 15-year-old was then placed under arrest and taken to the Owen County Security Center. He was later booked on preliminary murder charges.

A woman at the crime scene told officers that Dill had been “uncharacteristically helpful” and “chill” the morning of the shooting. However, she also said that lately he had been making threats to “kill the family.”

Investigators learned a police report had recently been filed in Bloomington after Dill told a BPD officer that he intended to kill his father. The report stated that Dill claimed he “knew where all the guns were in the house” and that DCS had been contacted.

Court documents detail how Dill was taken into psychiatric care after the incident and claim he was released from a mental health clinic on Aug. 7, two days before the shooting. The family had reportedly been “ensuring all firearms inside the home were locked up,” but Dill allegedly gained access to them somehow.

Based on past threats to kill his family and the alleged admissions he made to Morgan County jail staff, Dill was taken into custody. On Oct. 30, he was charged with murder in Owen Circuit Court.

Online court records indicate that an initial hearing was held in Dill’s case on Nov. 3 in front of Judge Donald VanDerMoere. A jury trial is now scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on April 14, 2026.
