VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 16-year-old student has been apprehended following allegations of threatening violence at DeLand High School, as reported by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
The authorities stated that the teenager “made a poor decision” by sending menacing messages via Instagram and text on Monday. He further intensified the situation by informing a group chat of his intentions to attack the school.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that investigators swiftly traced the messages back to the teenager, identifying him as the individual responsible.

The young suspect was subsequently detained and now faces a felony charge for making written threats of violence.
Deputies said he was taken into custody and is facing a felony charge of making written threats to kill.
News 6 is not naming or showing the teen’s face due to his age.
The investigation remains active.
