AUGUSTA, Ga ()- Two people were injured when their vehicle was shot at while they were driving on I-20 Sunday afternoon.
It happened around 4:30 p.m. near mile marker 196. When officers with the Richmond county sheriff’s Office arrived, they found a gray Toyota Camry with multiple bullet holes.
The driver told police he was driving on I-20 westbound when a blue Tesla, driven by a white female, pulled up beside him. He said a black male passenger pulled out a gun out of the window and fired 5 to 6 shots at his car.
The Tesla left the scene, taking exit 194 in Columbia County. Police found the Tesla and detained the driver, but the male passenger ran from the scene and police are still looking for him.
The victim was shot once in his ankle and his passenger what shot once in her left shoulder. Both victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.
No word on their conditions or the identities of either the victims or the suspects.
The incident is still under investigation.
