LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — Two puppies and several baggies of marijuana pictured and labeled with classic movie titles were seized during a traffic stop in Lakeland on Sunday morning.
Just after 7 a.m., a trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol pulled over a vehicle speeding down SR-400 and weaving through lanes.
The trooper approached the driver, 20-year-old Xavier Alexander Benitez, and immediately smelled marijuana coming from the car, according to the report.
When asked about the odor, Benitez pulled out a container with a green leafy substance, saying, “I only have this.”
During a search of the vehicle, the trooper found three sealable baggies containing the weed with images of “Home Alone 6,” “Scarface,” and “Ted Penguin,” along with a green box containing three joints. A grinder, wrapping paper, and empty baggies and CD boxes with the same film images on the front were also found.
In the spare tire holder, three sealed baggies with marijuana inside were labeled “Home Alone,” “Scarface,” and “Def Jam,” FHP said.
FHP found a total of more than 237 grams of marijuana containing THC inside. The two puppies, which were also in the vehicle, were turned over to Polk County Animal Control.
Benitez, who was driving on a canceled or revoked license, was arrested for possession of marijuana with the intent to sell or deliver, possession of drug equipment, and a traffic violation. He was taken to the Polk County Jail.
