GLENNVILLE, Ga. () – Two Smith State Prison employees have been arrested this month, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC).
Officials said on Feb. 9, while attempting to clear the front entry, Correctional Officer Shaniya Odom was found in possession of what’s believed to have been marijuana.
She was taken into custody by agents with GDC’s Office of Professional Standards.
Odom was booked at the Tattnall County Jail on charges of crossing state/county guard lines with weapons, intoxicants, drugs without consent; possession of marijuana; violation of oath by public officer; and giving or possessing liquor, drugs, weapons etc., by an inmate without consent of warden.
On Feb. 21, Sgt. Rosemary Johnson admitted to “personal dealings with an offender” at the prison, according to the GDC.
Booking records show she has been charged with violation of oath by public officer, trading with inmates without consent of warden or superintendent and use of communication facility in commission of a felony.
Johnson was arrested and transported to the Tattnall County Jail.
