ILLINOIS (WCIA) — While some are heading to the polls this Tuesday, November 4, Illinois residents are not among them. Instead, they are looking ahead to next year when the midterm elections will present a variety of important choices for voters.
After nearly three decades in the U.S. Senate, Senator Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) is stepping down and will not seek reelection. The race to succeed him is heating up with Lieutenant Governor Julianna Stratton and U.S. Representatives Robin Kelley and Raja Krishnamoorthi entering the fray on the Democratic side. For the Republicans, Pamela Denise Long, a former consultant originally from Mississippi, is in the running. Joining her in the race is R. Cary Capparelli, a geographer and CEO hailing from Chicago.
In the race for U.S. House of Representatives, there are several districts up for grabs. Democratic Nikki Brudzinski (IL-13) and Republicans Mike Bost (IL-12) and Mary Miller (IL-15) are all up for reelection. On the ticket in the gubernatorial race, there are conservatives Ted Dabrowski, DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick and former Illinois State Senator Darren Bailey.
There will also be elections for State Representatives, State Senator, and other executive positions like Comptroller and Attorney General.
