SAVOY, Ill. (WCIA) — Randy Shannon and Andy Brandenburg, members of the Blue Crew Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, recently sat down with WCIA’s Taylor Mitchell to discuss an upcoming event that holds special significance for their community.
Mark your calendars for the 5th Annual First Responders Golf Outing, set to tee off at the University of Illinois Golf Course in Savoy on August 1st. Participants can register in person from 7 to 9 a.m., with the outing officially starting at 10 a.m. The goal of the event is to gather funds for the prestigious Chaz McCrone Scholarship.
Chaz McCrone, who was a cherished member of the motorcycle club and served as a Captain with the Pesotum Fire Department, tragically died in a car accident in 2018. In his memory, the club has worked tirelessly to honor his legacy and contributions to their community.
Proceeds from the golf outing will fund educational opportunities at the Illinois Fire Service Institute, offering aspiring firefighters vital training. Remarkably, past events have already provided seven individuals with this invaluable support.
