SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Multiple people were injured in a shooting at the Oglethorpe Mall on Wednesday.
Seven people are confirmed to have been injured in the incident, but not all of the injured people were shot, Chatham EMS confirmed.
Savannah Police Lenny Gunther told that three people were shot, two young adults and one juvenile.
The other four people transported had medical emergencies.
It was not an active shooting situation, Gunther said. The shooting was reportedly between two groups and started inside a store, then moved outside of the mall.
A Savannah Police spokesperson confirmed that the shooting took place around 5:45 p.m. The mall has since been evacuated.
SWAT was still clearing the mall at 7:50 p.m.
There is a heavy police presence around the area.
Workers at the mall told that they were sheltering in place. crew members witnessed four ambulances leaving the scene.
There is a multi-agency response. Avoid the area at all costs, a spokesperson for the International Association of Fire Fighters said.
