CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Motorists who regularly use Mattis Avenue in Champaign should prepare for a change in their daily commute as significant road construction is set to commence. Starting Monday, a segment of South Mattis Avenue, stretching from Windsor Road to Curtis Road, will undergo extensive improvements.

The construction, slated to begin on April 13, includes installing new concrete pavement, curbs and gutters, upgraded storm sewers, enhanced street lighting, on-street bicycle lanes, and a multi-use path for various activities. This comprehensive project aims to modernize and improve the infrastructure in the area.
