Tip leads to recovery of $100K stolen skid steer in Washington County, Va., sheriff's office says

ABINGDON, Va. (WJHL) — A tip led to the recovery of a stolen skid steer worth $100,000 and the arrest of a Glade Spring man, according to authorities.

The Washington County, Virginia, Sheriff’s Office said it arrested Clifford Allen Chapman, 49, on Tuesday following an investigation prompted by a community tip submitted through the agency’s TIP411 system.

According to the sheriff’s office, Chapman was charged with grand larceny, possession of firearm/ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of Schedule I or II controlled substance, and possession of firearm with Schedule I or II controlled substance.

Chapman was taken to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail and was being held on a $7,500 bond.
