FORT MYERS, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida man was accused of stealing a woman’s purse with an unexpected valuable inside.
A 1-month-old kitten was found in the bag, stolen by 34-year-old Benjamin Cummings in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Palm Avenue in Fort Myers, Florida, according to the police department.
When officials responded to the robbery on Thursday, they found the woman’s belongings inside an abandoned vehicle, police said. After sifting through the items, the kitten came out from underneath the car and approached officers.

The victim confirmed to Fort Myers police that the kitten was stolen from her during the robbery, along with the items in the vehicle. The woman and her cat were safely reunited.
Cummings was arrested for robbery without a weapon.
