Subject arrested by ACSO after alleged theft of cattle worth estimated $90,000

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. () – One person has been arrested by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday for the theft of livestock.

According to a spokesperson for ACSO, deputies were searching in the area around Bluff Landing Road for a subject who had warrants filed against him for alleged theft of cattle worth an estimated $90,000.

Byron Furman Lee, 41, a resident of Jackson, SC, was arrested by ACSO on March 6 after the search. Lee was then located and placed into custody.

Lee is facing charges connected to five different cattle theft incidents ranging in dates from Sept. 23, 2024 to Dec. 2, 2024. Two of cattle thefts allegedly total more than $10,000, while three others ranged between $2,000 and $10,000 in value in each instance.

An incident report from Jan. 23, 2025 classified as a Larceny shows a local farmer reported 45 cows missing from his field.

He was also charged with 2nd Offense Driving Under Suspension.

In the public index of the Aiken County Second Judicial Circuit, Lee is also facing charges following his arrest that include Use of License Plate Other Than for Vehicle Which Issued.

Lee is currently being held at Aiken County Detention Center.
