ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando’s entertainment scene is leveling up this weekend with the grand opening of Activate Orlando, Florida’s first active gaming facility.

The new entertainment option is located on International Drive at Pointe Orlando.

Activate is bringing a new twist to the gaming experience – one that gets you off the couch and straight into a video game feel.

“Put in the middle of a video game is how we describe it. You’re the character. You’re making all the movements,” said Blake Telshaw, store leader at Activate.

Activate Orlando features 12 high-tech game rooms, including the social media-famous Mega Grid that challenges players to work together to earn points and coins.

Guests track their progress with RFID wristbands, and the ever-changing lineup of games means no two visits are the same.

The rooms are going to test a wide variety of skills, whether that’s your speed, your agility or just your overall teamwork. After a few minutes in some of these rooms, you’re definitely going to start to feel that workout burn.

“This is kind of like a sneaky workout. You’re interacting with live elements inside the rooms, very heavily built around some, in depth technology,” Telshaw said.

And the games are easy to understand, allowing guests like Daisy Mora-Fuentes to enjoy the experience.

“And I like how easy it is. I was leveraging technology to make something fun and simple that you can just read three sentences and know exactly what to do,” Mora-Fuentes said.
