SAVANNAH, Ga. — At Memorial’s Children’s Hospital, young patients were in for a rare treat when an unlikely guest trotted in to brighten their day.
Rascal, a 9-year-old miniature horse, made a special visit to the hospital on Friday, spreading joy to the children and their families. His presence brought a welcomed break from the routine and a dose of happiness to everyone he encountered.
“Everyone gets excited when Rascal comes around because it’s not something we see every day,” remarked Dr. Michael Bossak, capturing the sentiment of the hospital staff and patients.
Despite his playful name, Rascal is a gentle soul, eager to share his affection with the young ones. His calming demeanor brings smiles and comfort, making the hospital environment a little less intimidating.
Rascal is part of Fuzzy Therapy Miniature Horses, an organization dedicated to providing animal-assisted therapy to the community. His mission on Friday was simple yet profound: to show the children that hospital visits don’t always have to be daunting experiences.
“When he goes into a hospital room of a child, he’ll put his nose right on the bed and snuggle the child,” said a member of Fuzzy Therapy. “He has the best time with people.”
