MATTOON, Ill. (WCIA) — A benefit is being held for Keisha Seeley on Saturday, who tragically lost her life in a murder-suicide this past November.

On Nov. 10, Davontye Browder shot and killed Seeley before turning the gun on himself and taking his own life. Now, members of the community are raising money for Seeley’s daughters at a benefit event.

The event, held at Mattoon Moose Lodge at 1212 Broadway Ave., is raising funds for Seeley’s daughters Bethany and Kamiah. The money is helping with funeral expenses and assisting her daughters going forward.

Doors to the benefit will open at 5 p.m. and there will be a meal, silent auction and bake sale:

  • Manwich, baked beans, coleslaw and chips for $10
  • Meat bundle raffle $10 each
  • Lottery Bear $1 each, 6 for $5 and arm length for $10
  • 50/50 $1 each, 6 for $5 and arm length for $10

There will also be music provided by DJ Mike James from 7 to 11 p.m. with no cover charge. A donation bucket will be available for those looking to give to the cause.
