AIKEN, S.C. — In a significant development, authorities in Aiken County have made an arrest in connection with a recent murder investigation.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that 32-year-old Dashawn Trevalla Hankinson is facing charges for the fatal shooting of Reginald Young III.
This tragic event unfolded on May 20th along Dallas Circle in the Shiloh Heights neighborhood.
According to law enforcement, the 21-year-old victim suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.
Hankinson was taken into custody on May 27th and has been charged with murder, along with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. The arrest was a collaborative effort, with support from the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force.

The suspect remains in the Aiken County Detention Center.
In 2025, Hankinson was one of 5 arrested in a drug bust the 200 block of Pipe Line Rd.
Authorities seized Crack, Cocaine, Fentanyl pills, and money.
At that time Hankinson was was charged with Trafficking Fentanyl, Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, Operating a Stash House, and Giving False Information.
