AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. () – Tragedy struck Aiken County as a man was arrested following a violent incident involving his family, resulting in the death of his stepfather.
The unsettling events unfolded on November 2nd when Aiken County Deputies received a distressing 911 call reporting a stabbing on John Scott Road. Responding swiftly, the deputies encountered Dale Carlin, the alleged assailant, outside the residence. After securing Carlin, they entered the home to assess the situation.
Inside, they discovered two individuals suffering from stab wounds. Emergency medical services were promptly called to the scene, and both victims were rushed to the hospital for urgent medical care.
Tragically, one of the victims, identified as 73-year-old Mark Douglas Burch, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning. Burch was Carlin’s stepfather, adding a heartbreaking layer to this already grim narrative.
One victim died Tuesday morning. That victim identified as Carlin’s step-father, 73-year-old Mark Douglas Burch.
The second victim has been identified as Carlin’s mother, Christine Ehler Burch. She is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Carlin is charged with 1 count of Murder, 1 Count of Attempted Murder and 2 counts of Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime.
He remains in the Aiken County Jail.
