AIKEN, S.C. () – On January 28, 2026, a group of dedicated volunteers ventured into homeless encampments in Aiken as part of the Point in Time count.

Their mission was to tally the number of individuals without shelter and assess their needs, information crucial for determining the county’s eligibility for funding aimed at providing aid to the homeless population.

This initiative is being spearheaded by Lost Sheep Ministries this year.

“We need people to assist us in locating these individuals so we can begin what we like to call triage,” explained Pastor Kurt Johnson. “Once we have their trust, we can help them build lives of success.”

“We must remember, it could easily be any of us,” remarked Theresa Callahan. “These are our brothers and sisters in need.”

The count continues through Sunday.
