BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. () — The Bluffton Township Fire District has confirmed that an alligator attack occurred Wednesday in Sun City.
Firefighters from Bluffton Township Fire District’s Station 34 (Sun City) were dispatched to a reported alligator attack involving an adult male in his 80s. The man was near a pond working in his yard when the gator came up and bit him.
The individual sustained a wound to his right leg and at least one arm. He was conscious, alert, and able to move away from the water after his wife forced the alligator to retreat.
A Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputy arrived on the scene and began patient care, working to control bleeding. Beaufort County EMS arrived, assumed medical care and requested an air ambulance for transport to an emergency care facility.
