ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – As Cranes Roost Park prepares for an influx of visitors, excitement is building in Altamonte Springs for the 29th annual Red Hot & Boom Independence Day celebration.
Entertainment will be at the forefront of this festive occasion, with country singer-songwriter Chris Lane headlining the musical performances, accompanied by Wish Radio and Blue Stone Circle. The festival offers free admission, ensuring everyone can join in on the celebration.
City Manager Frank Martz offered a glimpse of the evening’s spectacular conclusion, revealing plans for a dazzling fireworks display. “We’re going to shoot about 10 fireworks per second for 25 straight minutes,” Martz said. “It’s going to be an intense, incredible show.”
With more than 200,000 attendees anticipated, city officials are advising guests to brace for crowded conditions and heavy traffic in the vicinity. Strategic planning and patience will be key to navigating the event smoothly.
Martz emphasized the importance of a calm demeanor amid the bustling festivities. “Regardless of how you get to the event, be patient. That is the most important thing,” he advised. “Parking is going to fill up here very, very quickly. With 200,000 people, the majority of the people who are going to get here will park someplace else and walk.”

Attendees at Red Hot & Boom are urged to prepare for the heat and also the possibility of afternoon thunderstorms.
“Wear the light colored clothing, the loose-fitting clothing, and start hydration early. The moment you start getting thirsty, you’re already behind the eight ball,” Seminole County Fire Department Lt. Dave Williams said. “We do have mobile teams out here. We have foot teams, cart teams, and bike teams. They’re going to be out the entire time during the event.”
The city also said safety is the top priority, with hundreds of officers among the crowd, medical tents, and numbers fixed to light poles that help direct first responders where they need to be in the case of an emergency.
“We will have a lot of partners here with us from multi-agencies to help us, coming from even outside of the county to help us with this event,” Public Information Officer Deana DiPaola said.

Parking is available at the Altamonte Mall and surrounding areas. disabled parking is available in the parking lot near Festival Drive and Central Parkway, as well as a designated area in the Altamonte Mall Parking lot north of the AMC Theater.

Red Hot & Boom is from 5-10 p.m. at Cranes Roost Park. The fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m., weather permitting.
