AUGUSTA, Ga. () – Alvin Mason has officially thrown his hat back into the ring as a candidate for the District 4 commission seat in Augusta.
Having previously represented this district, Mason stepped down from his role last June due to health concerns. He recently shared with NewsChannel 6 his motivations for returning to the political arena.
“My goal is to ensure that the residents of District 4 continue to receive the quality representation they experienced during my previous service,” Mason stated. “It’s crucial that our splash projects and other ongoing initiatives don’t get sidelined or forgotten. By re-entering this position, I can hit the ground running and address the needs of not just District 4, but our entire community.”
Following Mason’s resignation, an election was conducted in October to fill his unexpired term, resulting in Lonnie Wimberly’s victory. Wimberly will once again appear on the upcoming ballot.
Voters will head to the polls for the primary election on May 19.
