LAKEVILLE, Mass. (WJW) — An Amazon driver who reportedly dumped dozens of packages in the Massachusetts woods told police they did it because they were stressed.

According to a post on the website for the police in Lakeville, Sgt. Shawn Robert was on a routine patrol around 2 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 22 when he noticed the items in a wooded area. A closer look revealed “three large totes” of Amazon packages that had been spread out in the woods.

Officers loaded up the totes and brought them to the police department where about 80 packages were counted, the post said. They then contacted the local Amazon distribution center in Middleborough and returned the packages to Amazon.

The next day an Amazon driver went to the police department and reported they had left the packages on the side of the road Saturday evening “because they were stressed,” the post said.

“I am proud of the way our Lakeville Police officers handled and investigated this matter. At this time, we are not seeking criminal charges and are considering this a human resources matter for Amazon,” Chief Perkins wrote in in the press release.

The Amazon driver also told police they had planned to report the incident to their manager.
