Former Richmond County Marshal's Office employee arrested

AUGUSTA, Ga. () – A former Richmond County Marshal’s Office employee was arrested after being terminated following an investigation into alleged misconduct.

Sergeant Brittney Brown was terminated on May 23. According to authorities, the Marshal’s Office, “became aware of allegations of misconduct involving Sergeant Brittney Brown” on May 21. The office conducted a “thorough internal investigation” and “determined that Brown violated Richmond County Marshal’s Office policy.”

Brown was arrested by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office on the following charges:

  • Felony Theft by Taking
  • Felony Violation Oath of Office

According to police, Brown voluntarily turned herself in to authorities. She was arrested and booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center without incident.

This case remains under investigation.
