MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — An ongoing investigation into last week’s Salute from the Shore flyover has led to the temporary suspension of eight Apache pilots from flying duties, according to officials from the South Carolina National Guard.
The suspended pilots continue to report for duty and receive their salaries, as they are engaged in other responsibilities, stated Major Lisa Allen. She emphasized that grounding pilots during investigations is a routine procedure.
Major Allen noted that she could not provide details about the reasons behind the suspension due to the ongoing nature of the investigation. She is also working to determine when the pilots were informed of their suspension and how long the suspension will last.
As the inquiry progresses, it remains uncertain whether the pilots will face further disciplinary measures.
