JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — On Monday evening, an attempted transaction from an online marketplace turned into a robbery when two armed individuals targeted a seller in Johnson City, according to the local police department.
The Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) reported that the incident occurred at around 7 p.m. at the address 920 N State of Franklin Rd. The victim had arranged to meet a buyer in a parking lot to complete a sale initiated through an online platform.
As detailed in a JCPD news release, the meeting took a dangerous turn when two suspects, wielding weapons, confronted and robbed the individual. Police indicate the robbery was likely premeditated, focusing on the specific victim.
At this time, no arrests have been made, and the JCPD is actively seeking leads.
