Arrest Made for a Series of Burglaries, Including Robbery at U.S. Representative’s Office

VIDALIA, Ga. () — A 19-year-old has been charged in connection to a string of burglaries that included a U.S. representative’s office.

John Wesley Thompson, of Lyons, was arrested by police for multiple burglaries that occurred between Feb. 6-15, a Vidalia Police Department (VPD) spokesperson said.

Thompson allegedly targeted the Vidalia Community Center, including Action Pact Senior Center and U.S. Representative Rick W. Allen’s office, as well as Optim Pain Management, Vidalia Pediatric Clinic and Treehouse.

Police said that Thompson is charged with:

  • six counts of burglary
  • three counts of criminal attempt to commit burglary
  • one count of interference with government property
  • two counts of entering an automobile with intent to commit theft or felony
  • three counts of financial transaction card fraud
  • one count of financial transaction card theft
