DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A Danville man is under arrest after police said he threatened a woman with a gun and fired a shot early Tuesday morning.

Sergeant Andrew Brooks said in a news release that officers were dispatched to the intersection of Main Street and Virginia Street around 2 a.m. for a report of an armed male. When they arrived, witnesses said the man had retreated into a nearby home.

Officers surrounded the home and ordered the man to exit, officials said. He eventually did and was identified as 34-year-old Joshua Martinez of Danville.

A search of the home and garage located three guns.

Due to the evidence and information gathered by officers, Martinez was placed under arrest and was booked into the Vermilion County Jail on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Court records do not indicate he has been formally charged yet.

Anyone who has further information about this incident is asked to contact the Danville Police Department at 217-431-2250 or Vermilion County Crimestoppers at 217-446-8477.
