Man arrested in connection to deadly Hinesville stabbing

HINESVILLE, Ga. () — A man has been arrested in connection to a fatal stabbing in Hinesville, police said Monday.

Joel Leggette has been taken into custody in connection to the death of Gyran Ward, police said.

Hinesville Police officers dispatched to an unresponsive man at an apartment complex in the 900 block of Pineland Avenue early Thursday, April 17. Officers found Gyran Ward suffering from a stab wound and began rendering aid until EMS arrived on scene, a Hinesville Police spokesperson said.

Ward later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

The Hinesville Police Criminal Investigations Division then identified Leggette as a suspect in this case, officials said.

While an arrest has been made, police said they still have an active and ongoing investigation. Additional arrests or charges may be forthcoming.
