BREAKING: SPD obtains arrest warrants in Oglethorpe Mall shooting

SAVANNAH, Ga. () – The Savannah Police Department, in collaboration with the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office, has obtained several arrest warrants in connection with the July 2 shooting at the Oglethorpe Mall.

Two of the suspects are currently hospitalized at Memorial Health University Medical Center where they were treated for injuries sustained during the incident. The suspects, who are both under the age of 18, were served with warrants for felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a handgun by a person under the age of 18 and possession of a firearm during commission of a crime. 

Once released from the hospital, the suspects will be taken into custody and immediately transported to the detention center where they will await formal charges from the District Attorney. To preserve the investigation of the case, the names and identities of those involved will not be released at this time but additional details will be forthcoming. 

Chief of Police Lenny B. Gunther said, “The Savannah Police Department intends to hold all those involved in this senseless crime accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
