CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Chris Bush finished his high school basketball career as one of the top scorers in Central’s school history.

His 1,577 career points ranks him third on the all-time scoring list, leading the Maroons to a sectional semi-final this season.

He is weighing his options for where he’ll play in college, but he’s grateful for the memories and personal growth he’s made through his time in high school.

“I just matured both on and off the court,” Bush said.

“It’s how I play physical more now on the court and off the court just being more calm.”

“I feel I was a little more goofy back then, but it’s more calm now.”

“He meant a little bit of everything,” Central Head Coach PJ Keaton said.

“He’s the definition of hard work, commitment, loyal to the program.”

“Most nights, I asked him to be the leading scorer and guard the other team’s best playerm so he was our backbone through the whole year.”

Bush is now eligible to earn a $1,000 scholarship we’ll give away to one boy and one girl at the end of the school year.

If you know a deserving high school athlete, nominate them here.
