Atlantic System Could Become Hanna Soon: Latest Forecast

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Atlantic could soon see another named storm, with Hanna next in line on the 2026 hurricane season list.

The National Hurricane Center says a low-pressure system over the central subtropical Atlantic now has a 70% chance of developing within 48 hours. Its odds rise to 80% over the next seven days.

Known as AL91, the disturbance is positioned several hundred miles east-northeast of Bermuda.

Thunderstorms around the system are becoming more organized as it races eastward across the central subtropical Atlantic over the next several days.

Should AL91 strengthen into a tropical storm, it would receive the name Hanna, the next designation on the 2026 Atlantic storm list.

Forecasters expect conditions to become less supportive of development later this week, giving the system only a limited opportunity to intensify.

The system does not pose an immediate threat to Florida.
