AT&T discontinuing traditional landline service in Illinois for less expensive options

In Central Illinois, traditional landline phones are becoming a thing of the past as AT&T introduces more modern and cost-effective alternatives.

AT&T revealed in a statement to WCIA that they are transitioning to advanced communication services such as AT&T Phone – Advanced (AP-A).

“As we enhance our services, the copper-based lines will eventually be phased out in these areas,” a company representative explained. “This will be a gradual transition over several years, ensuring that no customer is deprived of voice or 911 services.”
