NEW YORK – Over two decades after the debut of the blockbuster novel “The Time Traveler’s Wife,” author Audrey Niffenegger has finally completed its eagerly awaited follow-up.
Hanover Square Press revealed on Friday that the sequel, titled “Life Out of Order,” is set for release on October 27. This new installment follows Alba DeTamble, a violinist and the daughter of the original time traveler, Henry DeTamble. Alba inherits her father’s Chrono-Displacement Disorder, which causes her to be unpredictably whisked away from the present.
“Alba’s narrative has been a lengthy journey; when I started in 2012, her dystopian reality felt distant from mine,” Niffenegger shared in a statement. “Writing through the pandemic and societal changes intertwined our worlds. ‘Life Out of Order’ has been an all-engrossing project for me; I’ll miss being immersed in it but am thrilled to finally share it with readers.”
Back in 2003, “The Time Traveler’s Wife” marked Niffenegger’s debut into the literary world, achieving massive sales and inspiring a film adaptation starring Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana, as well as an HBO series featuring Rose Leslie and Theo James.
In addition to this series, Niffenegger has penned other novels, including “Her Fearful Symmetry” and “Raven Girl.”
