Augusta Bomb Squad Training Shakes the City with Simulated Explosions: What Residents Need to Know

Augusta, Ga – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Hazardous Devices Unit, commonly known as the Bomb Squad, is set to conduct explosive training exercises later this week. These exercises are scheduled to occur from March 2nd to March 6th, 2026.

The testing sessions will be held daily, running from 8 AM to 5 PM.

The training will be held at the Sheriff’s Office training center located at 2098 Greenland Rd. Blythe Ga.

During this time, explosions may be heard and felt within the area of the training center. RCSO wants to provide notice about this affecting working day-time hours. Reassuring the public to not be alarmed during this time.
