AUGUSTA, Ga. () – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office announced a suspect accused of suspicious behavior at the Diamond Lakes walking track was taken into custody on Wednesday.
According to police, 31-year-old Tyrone Bernard Gaynor, Jr. was arrested on March 5 and charged with Misdemeanor Stalking.
“This week, reports have surfaced on social media regarding a man following women at an uncomfortable distance,” RCSO said in statement. After an increase of surveillance in the area, deputies reportedly located Gaynor at the Diamond Lakes walking trail track at approximately 12:53 p.m. Wednesday before he was taken into custody for further investigation.
Sheriff Eugene Brantley released the following statement on the incident:
“We appreciate the public’s assistance in these types of incidents. Always maintain situational awareness, leave any area where you observe suspicious activity, and call 911 immediately. If possible, obtain video footage, license plates, or other identifying information, and we will follow up. Together, we will make Augusta safer and better for everyone.”
